Electrochemical Series

Electrochemistry is the branch of chemistry which established a relationship between chemical energy and electrical energy.
Electrical energy is conveyed in the form of electric current. This electric current is produced bv electrical energy. The electrical energy is produced due to the driving force which converts chemical energy into electrical energy (following a redox reaction). The electrical energy can convert into chemical energy and this chemical energy is responsible for the necessary chemical change in a reaction.
In order to pass the current through an electrolytic conductor (aqueous solution or fused electrolyte), two rods or plates (metallic conductors) are always needed which are connected with the terminals of a battery. These rods or plates are known as electrodes. The electrode through which the current enters the electrolytic solution is known as Anode whie the electrode through which the current leaves the electrolytic solution is known as Cathode.
Electrochemical Series
When electrode in contact with their ions are arranged in an increasing order of their standard reduction potential, the resulting series is known as electrochemical series.
